Day 1: Florence (overnight in Florence)
Travel from the airport near Florence to your 4-star hotel in the city. Enjoy free time, and have dinner at your hotel or at any one of the many excellent local restaurants during your peaceful first hours in Italy.

Day 2: Florence (overnight in Florence)
Explore the town! The city itself is a statement of great Italian artistry; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded on an ancient Etruscan settlement, and expanded several times by grand master builders such as Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti. Don’t miss the “Officers Gallery”and the “Galleria dell’Accademia” (where you’ll find Michelangelo and da Vinci master pieces), “Palazzo Pitti” and its huge “Boboli” Garden, “Ponte Vecchio”, the “Duomo”, and all the countless other palaces, churches, and museums – you’ll be lost in a sea of unforgettable impressions and experience.

Day 3: Excursion to the Chianti region - Castello di Vicchiomaggio, Radda di Chianti (overnight in Florence)
Distance 100 km
Today take a trip into the “Chianti fiorentino” area, the region of fabulous dark red wine. Perhaps you would like to include a visit to a winery and a wine tasting with appetizers in the “Castello di Vicchiomaggio” or a similar vineyard in your plans?

Day 4: Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Siena (overnight in Siena)
Distance 230 km
Drive to Pisa this morning. Enjoy the ensemble view of the Cathedral, the world famous leaning tower, the Baptistery and the historic graveyard from the “Piazza dei miracoli” – “the square of the miracles” in the historic town centre and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then journey to the amazingly beautiful Volterra, known for its alabaster and views of the Tuscan landscape. Not far from there you’ll find another Etruscan pearl and UNESCO World Heritage Site– San Gimignano, the “Manhatten of Tuscany” (due to the numerous towers built in the conflict between the “Ghibellini” and the “Guelfi” families). Enjoy this open air museum before you continue your route towards Monteriggioni and finally Siena.

Day 5: Siena, San Galgano (overnight in Siena)
Distance 60 km
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Italy, the city of Siena attained great importance in the middle ages, the historic centre having been built between the 12th and 15th centuries. Further, you could include a trip to San Galgano and see the sword in the stone that may have inspired the Arthurian legends.

Day 6: Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Perugia (overnight in Perugia)
Distance 150 km
Head towards Montepulciano this morning, perhaps choosing the picturesque road through the “Val d’Orcia” which starts near Siena’s outskirts. Stopping enroute at Montalcino, you could join in a wine tasting or go for a walk in the streets of this interesting Tuscan city before continuing to Pienza, a renaissance city and home town of Pope Pius II. From there to Montepulciano, the last city on today’s itinerary before arriving in Perugia.

Day 7: Perugia, Assisi (overnight in Perugia)
Daily distance 60 km
Spend some time seeing Perugia this morning, then maybe head to Assisi, the pilgrimage destination made famous by St. Francis. Then back to Perugia where you can have dinner at your hotel/castle or in a local restaurant. Perugia is famous for its beef, lamb, and goatling, so don’t miss trying dishes which include those local specialties.

Day 8: Gubbio, Urbino, Città di Castello (overnight in Città di Castello)
Distance 190 km
After breakfast in Perugia you can start your trip towards some picturesque Umbrian cities and a wonderful little town in the Marche. The view during the drive along the valley is nothing short of glorious. Gubio and Urbino are on your list before heading of to the last stop for today, the beautiful Città di Castello where your 4-star hotel is situated.

Day 9: Arezzo, Florence (overnight in Florence)
Distance 80 km
Your tour’s last full day has begun. Start your drive towards Florence, stopping enroute in Arezzo to see the churches, towers, and a Roman amphitheatre. Continue onward to Florence, where you’ll have time to return the rental car (if you don’t want to return it tomorrow at the airport) and spend some more time in the city.

Day 10: Florence, flight home
Sorry, but you’ll have to pack your bags today. Maybe you’ll have a time for a last little taste of the City of Art, but at some point you’ll have to make your way to Florence Airport, Peretola, from where you’ll start your journey home, all the while reflecting on the many things you saw and did (and didn’t do but should have). But don’t worry! You’ll be back.

Distance 80 km

After breakfast in Città di Castello drive to Florence, return the rental car and take your flight home.
