- DAY 2 – On the Wine Route
Distance: about 100 km
After breakfast, leave your hotel to Dijon, where a guided visit shows you the essentials of the historical
capital of the Duchy of Burgundy, with its picturesque houses and its gothic church. After your visit, you reach a winery where you enjoy a
wine tasting, before driving along the “
Wine Route” of Burgundy to Clos of Vougeot. This famous monastery from the 11th century is one of the founder of the wine-making knowledge of the region. Further going, you cross Nuits Saint Georges known for the quality of its wines, and Corgoloin where
pink marble is extracted. Finally, you arrive in Beaune, beating heart of the Burgundy wines, where you visit the Hotel Dieu, a
medieval hospital from the 15th century, with its huge resting rooms, kitchen and apothecary.
- DAY 3 – Historic Burgundy
Distance: about 280 km
After breakfast, you first go to Vezelay, one of the most important
medieval sanctuaries, where pilgrims used to pause on their way to the South. Later, keep going to Semur-en-Auxois, a picturesque town, where you can admire a
typical gothic construction in perfect condition. Finally, see Fontenay, where you visit one of the
oldest Cistercian monastery from the 12th century, before heading back to your hotel for dinner.
- DAY 4 – Abbeys of Burgundy
Distance: about 250 km
After breakfast, head to Tournus, where you get to see the
Abbey Saint Philibert, one of the oldest and biggest construction of the region, built by monks in the 9th century. Later, visit the
Abbey of Cluny from the 12th century, which was one of the most powerful of the medieval Christian world. After your visit, go back to your hotel for dinner.
